What Are Chakras?

The word Chakra means "Wheel of Light" in the Sanskrit Language. The Ancient Sanskrit language is over 4,000 years old and originated in India. But Chakras, and what they represent, are a Universal concept. They share vital connections to both ancient and modern day sciences (from biology to psychology.)

The Chakras can be thought of as the 'power points' within the human body. These power points circulate energy, or the life force throughout the system; this circulating energy is also referred to as 'Prana', or 'Chi').

The Chakras are vertically aligned in the center of the physical body along the spinal column. The energy points begin near the base of the body (tailbone) to the top of the head (brain).

Metaphysically, each chakra is connected with a particular vibrational sound frequency, psychological quality, color, and many other physical and non-physical associations.

These energy centers of the body are the catalysts of human function and consciousness. They are connected to everything from survival issues, to emotional issues; from our self-esteem to our ability to communicate.
