About EFT Tapping

About the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), the many benefits of Tapping and how it can be used for Healing.

EFT stands for "Emotional Freedom Techniques", also known simply as "tapping". It is a form of energy psychology that is used to treat a wide variety of physical and psychological issues, and is an effective and simple form of self-therapy.

EFT, or Tapping, works with the subtle life force energy that flows throughout the human body, referred to as "Qi (Chi) energy", (also known as Prana). This Chi energy runs along meridian points or channels located throughout the body. These are the same meridians that connect to the Chakra energy centers of the body as well. These points correspond to acupuncture points on our major meridians. Our finger tips contain points where the three main energy channels (Central, Right Main, and Left Main Channels) meet. The tapping works with the meridian points to clear or re-distribute energy throughout the body.

When the energy in the body becomes blocked or disrupted, a physical, mental or emotional issue can occur. The purpose of EFT tapping is to clear any energy blocks or energetic resistance connected to a particular physiological issue so that the energy can be balanced and flow harmoniously. EFT tapping is also a powerful technique that can be used for clearing and releasing any energetic malfunctions or blocks in the chakras.

During a typical EFT session, a person will focus on a specific issue in their life that is causing problems or setbacks, while physically 'tapping' on the specific accupuncture points on the body. These accupuncture points are the 'end points' of the body's energy meridians. While the individual is tapping they also repeat affirmative statements or key phrases related to their desired result.

The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is similar to Thought Field Therapy TFT) which involves treatments that heal mental and physical ailments through specialized 'tapping' with the fingers at specific meridian points on the upper body and hands.

EFT works by intructing us to think of our bodies as electric. The accupuncture meridians act like energy circuits conducting currents of energy, like electricity. If these circuits become disrupted, the individual will may experience emotional or physical discomfort as a result of the imbalanced energy. Some areas of the body may experience a shortage of energy while other areas are receiving too much energy.

EFT focuses our attention inawrd and brings up information associated with whatever it is that we are tapping, usually information that has been hidden from conscious awareness. Negative feelings provide the link to this information and alert us to any energy disruptions. By tapping to release negative emotions, we clear energy blocks before they have time to afect the corresponding physical areas of our bodies.

Traumatic events in our lives are charged with strong negative emotions that are often difficult to process and release. We can sometimes feel overwhelmed by the negative thoughts and emotions connected to a particular memory or current situation in life, and we sometimes cope in unhealthy ways or distract ourselves from the feelings. By doing this, we keep short circuiting our energy meridians each time the emotions begin to surface as the memory of the trauma gets triggered into awareness. The energy that si building up must find a way out in order for our system to be cleared, and this is the role of EFT tapping.

During the EFT tapping, emotions are given attention and acknowledgement so that they can be gradually release, until the excess energy is cleared helping to restore balance throughout our entire energy system. By focusing on the problem or the connected emotion, the underlying energy disruption is activated. In this way, the timing of the tapping coincides with the energy disruption and can help push the energy through to rstore its flow. During the tapping one remains aware of the emotional energy as it moves and changes. This brings clarity in recognizing our self as the observer of our emotions instead of being under the control of our emotions, which makes it easier to let go of painful memories or negative emotions.

EFT also helps us to see that things are not always as they appear. It helps to correct our perception and opens the way for new possibilities in our life. Major changes in thinking and life experiences become possible. EFT helps us to perceive the same situation in a completely different way. EFT also helps to clear and release any negative belief systems, negative self-images or thought patterns, or harmful emotional memories from unresolved past events that no longer serve our highest good. EFT also help brings us to a deeper connection with Spirit itself. Consistent and persistent use of EFT will keep the mind, body and spirit in harmony with one another and improve the quality of one's life in a many different ways.
